Frequently Asked
Questions

How do we get started?

Simple! Schedule your free introductory class. You (or your child) will get to try martial arts, meet our instructors, and experience what makes Empower Martial Arts unique.

Can parents and family members watch classes?

Absolutely! We encourage family support. And better yet—many parents choose to train alongside their kids in our adult classes.

Do you teach life skills along with martial arts?

Yes—our programs focus on character development, leadership, teamwork, and communication. We want every student, young or adult, to succeed on and off the mat.

What age groups do you teach?

We have classes for kids as young as 4, teens, and adults of all ages. Each program is tailored to fit the needs and goals of that age group.

Do I (or my child) need prior martial arts experience?

Not at all! Most of our students begin as complete beginners. Whether you’re 5 or 50, we’ll guide you step by step so you can feel confident from day one.

How many classes per week can we attend?

Most students train 2 times per week, which balances progress with busy schedules. Some adults and advanced students choose to train more often.

What should we wear to the first class?

Comfortable workout clothes are perfect for your first class. Once you join, we’ll provide a martial arts uniform (gi) so you can train in style.

Will martial arts make someone aggressive?

No. Martial arts builds respect, self-control, and discipline. Students learn that martial arts are for self-defense and personal growth, not for fighting.

How does martial arts help outside the dojo?

For kids, martial arts improves focus, behavior, and confidence in school and at home. For adults, it reduces stress, builds fitness, and develops leadership skills you can use at work and in daily life.

What if my child is shy or I’m not very athletic?

That’s exactly why we’re here! Martial arts is for everyone. Shy kids gain confidence, and adults or children who don’t feel “athletic” improve strength, coordination, and self-belief.
